The Perfect Day

She thought back: With the rising of the sun she had known it was going to be a great day. She had breathed it in the air, she had felt it in the blue skies, she had sensed it in her veins and not to say seen it in the thousand dollar receipt for a diamond engagement ring. Today was going to be the day, it was going to be perfect. She had chosen her best clothes, the beige Armani suit he liked, and the black heels. These were to make it harder for him to resist popping the question, like he had been doing for the past three years. These and the diamond engagement ring. All dressed up and made up, she had given him a kiss and walked out the room with her usual "See you later hun!".

At the front door she had checked her mascara one last time, incase the question were to come a bit earlier than planned, suppose lunch hour! Her boss was very strict on powder-room breaks during work hours and if the question were to be popped during the lunch hour, she would barely have time to waste with things as trivial as mascara in comparison to what would follow, in comparison to what would make this the perfect day.

All checked, she had stepped out onto the marble porch, oh how it was shining and gleaming for her today, she could remember clearly. She knew she was going to love this day! She had walked the few steps to her black mini cooper, gotten in, glanced towards the bedroom French windows. After waving a flirtatious hand towards her half asleep prince charming, she had zoomed off. She had reached the office early, seemed like the usual hordes of commuters had known it too. Nothing could have stood in her way, she was invincible. All was perfect. She had gotten the elevator immediately without wait, she hadn't been pushed against any gum laden walls on the ride up to the thirteenth floor. No this day was going to be perfect. Once out, she had gone straight to her cabin, ready to work, had maybe even been in a mood to. She was not going to give the boss any chance to put her down today, no not today, today was going to be perfect.

Sharp at noon, lunch hour, had come the first blow, he hadn't thought early. No worries, she knew he probably had something big planned for the night, maybe a romantic dinner, with candles and everything, like she had always hoped. Oh it would be perfect! Just five more hours, and her night would start, her Friday would become the best ever, it would become perfect. So what if it was the eve of Valentine's Day, it would still be the most romantic thing, the most perfect!

Even time seemed to have been with her today, she got all her work done before the clock chimed five. Oh she was ready, she was ready for her perfect night! She had run out the doors, straight towards the black cooper. A quick glance in the rear view mirror and a quick touch up later she had been ready. Once again traffic had been on her side, she had made it home in less than half an hour. It was all perfect! Through the doors, straight towards the room, the room where her perfect night would start. How was she to know that everything was about to change.

She had walked into the room, her prince charming still in bed, exactly as she had left him with her wave. What struck her was the flashing screen of his phone. Ringing away silently, that picture of him with that bitch flashing over and over, taunting her. Then as a flash, she realized, she truly remembered. That bitch had made her do it. The perfection was not for her, it was for that bitch. She couldn't let her perfection becomes someone elses. She did it without a second thought, it was over in a second, he probably didn't even feel it hit him. She had hit two birds with one stone, she had kept her perfection and rid herself of that ugly flower vase her Aunt Muriel had given her for New Years! Her day had indeed been perfect! Nothing could stop her now, it was all perfect!

* I got a friend to read this, and she thought it was quite abruptly ended. Now that I read it again, I kind of agree, but due to not having anymore time to waste I think this'll have to do! :P
Enjoy, and feel free to comment and give suggestions for improvement! :)
